About us
He's What We're All About

Our striving and work is allowing God to work in us.
Our mission statement, We are called to build a community that lives by and for the Gospel, means that we believe that God has called each of us as individuals to come together into a particular congregation to join in Christian love, fellowship, and service. Together we strive to allow the Gospel to transform our hearts and lives. If you did not catch the irony of that last statement go back and read it again. Striving is a word used to describe active, struggling pursuit of something, but the Gospel is the Good News that Jesus is pursuing US!
It is God’s forgiveness and love that transforms us into the individuals and the community that He wants us to be. Our striving and work is allowing God to work in us.
Pastor Mike Matzek
Hello! I’m honored that you are taking the time to learn more about our leadership here at Shepherd of the Hills! I’ve been blessed to be part of this wonderful congregation since 2020. In that time, God has done wonderful things in and through this community.
Before I started serving here, I had spent twelve years at a wonderful congregation in southern California as their associate pastor. It was a great place and I learned a ton there, but my wife and I are Midwesterners at heart so we were so happy to get back to a place with four seasons.
I love that this congregation wants to get deeper in their relationship with God! I have a real passion for working through the Bible and helping people see their place in God’s story!
Our Staff
Welcome to Our Church Family!
For over 50 years, our church has been dedicated to three core principles that have guided our congregation and helped us grow in faith, love, and service. These pillars represent who we are and what we strive for:The Message of Jesus
We are deeply committed to the Gospel and its relevance in our lives today. With a long-standing tradition of excellent preaching and teaching, we keep the Bible at the center of our Richfield community.Warm Relationships
At our church, we cherish the time spent together in fellowship. We aim to create an inviting atmosphere where visitors feel welcome the moment they walk through our doors.Sharing the Love of Christ
Our congregation actively shares Christ's love through various outreach ministries. From Serenity Inn, a rehabilitation ministry in Milwaukee, to Operation Christmas Child, which supports children around the world, we reflect Christ's love in everything we do.Our mission statement
"We are called to build a community that lives by and for the Gospel," highlights our belief that God has brought us together as individuals to create a loving and supportive congregation. Through Christian love, fellowship, and service, we strive to allow the transformative power of the Gospel to work in our hearts and lives.
We are firmly rooted in our community and seek to bless our neighbors. For generations, we have loved and served the people of Hartford, Slinger, West Bend, Germantown, and Menomonee Falls.
